Transformation of fragmented tech rooms into a modern, visible STEM suite to support automotive, robotics, advanced manufacturing, and cross-disciplinary learning while improving safety and sustainability.

The Ithaca City School District commissioned a multi‑phase energy study across 14 facilities to identify energy‑efficiency recommendations.

Boynton Middle School, which served about 5,000 students daily as the district’s production kitchen, needed upgraded equipment, layout, and infrastructure to safely, code‑compliantly, and scalably support its move to scratch‑cooked, fresh meals.

A 1960‘s era 250-seat lecture hall in the core of Ithaca High School was no longer an effective use of space sixty years later. Instead, the District required flexible spaces for 60-80 people, equipped to support staff meetings, professional development and mid-sized groups of students.

In response to the New York State mandate that all school bus fleets must transition to zero emissions by 2035, the District required an immediate solution to support four new electric buses with existing electrical infrastructure.

Ithaca City School District set out to address a main office located well into the interior of the building campus, no primary entry point for visitors at Ithaca High School and a scattered group of meeting spaces. Tetra Tech led the design process to create a new secure Welcome Center to solve these problems.
