Four Level 2 Chargers

In response to the New York State mandate that all school bus fleets must transition to zero emissions by 2035, the District required an immediate solution to support four new electric buses with existing electrical infrastructure.
Tetra Tech’s team played an active role before and during design to identify priority items, interpret data provided by a third-party traffic consultant around energy expenditures and charger needs for current bus routes, and develop a scope at very low cost that did not even require a building permit.
Leveraging existing electrical infrastructure minimized the need for extensive upgrades. Four Level 2 chargers were installed on existing pedestals utilizing abandoned block charger conduits, saving the District time and money.
Expedient use of existing resources allows for a low-cost threshold to initial EV bus operation.
